What We Do

Salford Baby Bank works in partnership with local Salford community groups to provide collection points for equipment and supplies that new parents need after the birth of a child. This also creates an opportunity for parents to connect, if they choose, with a community group that can offer support, often through already established groups or services.

1. Referral

Referrals into Salford Baby Bank can be made by any organisation working with a Salford family, such as a doctors practice, charity, school, or children’s centre. There are no criteria to apply, as we recognise that people from all backgrounds and situations are sometimes in need of additional support when a new baby joins the home.

2. Communication

This referral will be picked up by our Baby Bank Co-ordinator (Shimeer), who will then contact the referrer. Our volunteer team will then put together a care package, working with the items we have in stock and looking to include those items included in the referral.

3. Collection

This care package will then be delivered to the collection point. Either the referrer will collect and deliver to the family or the family will be given the details of the collection point to collect themselves.

4. Continuing support

For families who choose to collect from partner organisations they will have the opportunity to stay in touch, which may include further support to access other services or support groups within the community.

Our community partner organisations are:

The Castle Community Centre, Eccles

Collection Point

The Castle provides a community space available for hire by local organisations, families and individuals. It hosts kids and youth clubs through Eden Eccles and is the home of Big Top Catering.
